WHAT IS KYOKUSHIN KARATE?

  Kyokushin is a style of stand up,full contact Karate founded in 1964 by Masutatsu Oyama who was born under the name Choi Yong-I. Kyokushinkai is Japanese for "the society of the ultimate truth." Kyokushin is rooted in a philosophy of self-improvement, discipline and hard training. Its full contact style has had international appeal (practitioners have over the last 40+ years numbered more than 12 million).

Kyokushin has influenced many of the "full-contact" schools of karate, emphasizing realistic combat, physical toughness, and practicality in its training curriculum. Many other martial arts organizations have "spun-off" from Kyokushin over the years, with some adding additional techniques, such as grappling, but continuing with the same philosophy of realistic and practical training methods.

Sensei Adriano Silva

2nd Degree Black Belt

 Adriano has over 26 years experience in Martial Arts. He began training Shotokan Karate in his place of birth , Parana Brazil in 1982. Adriano left Parana in 1987 and traveled to San Paolo, where he began training and later perfected the art of Kyokushin Karate. Adriano was not only taught the art of Kyokushin, he also learned the Masutatsu Oyama Philosophy. While in San Paolo, Adriano recieved his Black Belt and taught classes in the Sanisidrio School (Kyokushin Academy).

  In 2003 Adriano migrated to the United States of America. He moved to Newark,N.J. where he met Riccardo Bittencourt. He began running Kyokushin classes in Riccardo's academy (Renzo Gracie Academy of Newark) and has been with Team Bittencourt ever since. In addition to running Kyokushin Classes at the academy, Adriano is our Fight Team Trainer.

 Adriano teaches a more realistic style of Karate, focusing more on technique,speed,power, and strikng rather than spending time doing Kata.
