   Welcome to the Renzo Gracie Academy of Newark,NJ -Team Bittencourt's web site. We are located in the heart on Newark N.J.'s Ironbound section, just a 10 minute walk from Newark Penn Station and Path Trains. We offer classes seven days a week in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
  If you would like to learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to get into shape, learn self defense, or want to become a serious competitor, our facility is the place to train. We provide a safe and friendly enviornment  under the supervision of 3rd Degree Black Belt Romulo Bittencourt, our Head Instructor. We run 24 classes a week, with most of our classes lasting 1 and 1/2 to 2 hours.

  We are a proud member of the RENZO GRACIE ASSOCIATION, an elite group of Jiu-Jitsu schools that are held to the highest standard of training ,officially endorsed by Renzo Gracie.

Mike "Animal"Loureiro, Raphinha "Roxinha" Fernandez and Wellington Godoi all recieved their Purple Belts! This was a great weekend for Renzo Gracie Newark . Steve-0 wins his MMA fight this weekend with a submission finish in the 1st round and........TEAM RENZO GRACIE wins the No Gi Pan Am Championship for the second consecutive year in a row
Team Renzo Gracie closed the Black Belt Absolute Division with the help of our very own Gustavo Costa!! Gustavo Made his Black Belt debut today with a submission finish early in the fight. In addition to Gustavo's performance, we took home a few other medals; Eric (purple belt)-2nd place, Sean(Blue Belt)-2nd place and JV(Blue Belt)-3rd place. All our other competitors did a great job in their matches.
